Percentage to Letter Grade
Entered exactly as graded. No rounding is applied.
The scale (editable)
Each row is the minimum percent for that letter. Change any number and the result above updates. Scores below the lowest minimum earn an F.

The boundary question
The most common argument in any grade thread is the boundary score: does an 89.5 count as an A−? On this page the answer is mechanical — 89.5 is below 90, so it reads B+. In a real course the answer belongs to your instructor: some syllabi round to the nearest whole point, some truncate, and many say nothing at all. The honest move is to read the syllabus, and if it is silent, ask before finals week — not after.
Questions
Does the converter round my score before assigning a letter?
No. The comparison is exact: a score must meet or beat a row's minimum. An 89.5 with the A- minimum at 90 reads as B+. Whether a teacher rounds an 89.5 up is a syllabus policy, not a math rule, so this tool leaves the score untouched.
Can I change the grading scale?
Yes. Every minimum in the table is editable, and the converter re-reads the table on every change. Rows are sorted by minimum internally, and any score below the lowest minimum earns an F.
What is the default scale?
One widely used plus-minus convention: A at 93, A- at 90, B+ at 87, down to D- at 60, with F below that. It is a common default, not a standard every school follows — your syllabus or registrar always wins.
Can I share a result?
The score you enter is stored in the page URL, and the copy-link button copies it. Edits to the scale table are not stored in the URL, so a shared link opens with the default scale.
